Value of recruiting contractors

Why contractors make great business sense.

Articles

Contractors are great, aren’t they? They swoop in to save your projects like a superhero responding to the claxon call of distress (only without the cape) – which makes them pretty much invaluable in today’s dizzying, ever-changing economy.

Okay, it’s not always quite that dramatic. But from what we’ve witnessed in our many, many, many years of experience in the colourful world of recruitment, contractors really are the saviours of modern-day business.

Why? Because adapting is surviving. And contractors are the most adaptive workers you’ll ever come across.

They’re incredibly useful:

Suffering a skills gap? Managing a period of change? Launching a new project? Most companies discover the joys of a contract workforce when faced with an immediate need (oh my god, my best worker has been signed off sick!) or an expected shortfall (right, we really need to sort mat leave cover, asap!) Because hiring a good contractor (we only deal with the best) means projects are less likely lose impetus (wahey!), existing employees avoid burnout (phew!) and productivity is less likely to fall.

They’re incredibly versatile:

A contractor’s DNA is geared towards seamlessly picking up part-completed projects. It’s that superhero thing again: they come in and hit the ground running, without any hand-holding. That’s because the best contractors – the ones who make a living this way, the ones in high demand – are focused on self-development. You rarely need to spend time training them because they train themselves. They make sure they’re up-to-speed with the latest technologies and systems, so you have one less thing to worry about.

They’re incredibly flexible:

Crazy busy? Quiet as a mouse? No worries! A contract workforce offers the blissful freedom of short hiring cycles. You can ramp up your hiring or scale it right back, depending on those all-important activity levels. Honestly, who wants people twiddling their thumbs when it feels like the whole world’s on holiday? If a big project hits and you don’t have the right skills in place, contractors can absolutely save the day – and if you no longer need that extra man (or woman) power, cancelling contract assignments is a whole lot easier (and less expensive) than laying off permanent workers.

See, we told you they were great, didn’t we? And because we’ve got the best contractors on our books, from more sectors than you can shake a stick at (we really don’t know where that saying comes from), we can hook you up with the absolute best for your business.
